For those of you traveling from Omaha, 156th street, going north by Bennington is closed. You can go north on 168th street to Pawnee highway take a right, follow the detour signs to Bennington and the post location.

Nebraska Medal of Honor Highway receives new sign

It was January 31st that Governor Ricketts signed legislation to turn Nebraska’s portion of US Highway 20 into Nebraska Medal of Honor Highway.

In the world of military service, the Congressional Medal of Honor is a decoration of the highest order. It is the most esteemed award that can be given to a serviceman.

 

It was January 31st that Governor Ricketts signed legislation to turn Nebraska’s portion of US Highway 20 into Nebraska Medal of Honor Highway.

 

It was a show of reverence that doubles as being the largest monument in Nebraska’s history.

 

“A memorial never to be forgotten,” said Daryl Harrison, Vice Commander of the Nebraska Department of the American Legion. “A memorial to Nebraska’s greatest military heroes.”

Veterans Display

The Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn will have these Tall Towers, featuring 32 standards on  display at Prospect Hills Cemetery in Elkhorn from Friday, May 22 through Tues, May 26.  It will honor Veterans who loss their lives after 911.

American Legion Post #266 Information

American Legion Post #266 will not be holding Memorial Day services at Flower Hill, Prairie View and the German cemetery due to the coronavirus.  Flags and crosses will be put out for our Veterans.

The June 4 Legion meeting is cancelled.  We will hope to meet in August and elect officers.  Please watch our website and Facebook page for information on our Firework Sales.
